We are putting together our calendar of Events for 2019, and just couldn’t wait to share these fun Winter and Spring Events.  Here is a sneak peek at 2019’s Top Winter and Spring Events:

New Year’s Day Wood-N-Wave Poker Run or Drake Creek Frosty Balls

Start the year active and stay active with outdoor fun on new year’s day.  Choose from a fun morning of cycling or a day of golf.

Why we love them: Both events have great organizers and are centered around fun with friends outdoors.

Dates:  Both events are New Year’s Day.

Land Between The Lakes Eagle Van Tours

Dress for the weather and bring binoculars if you have them as Land Between The Lakes naturalists guide you to these area eagle viewing hotspots.

Why we love it: Winter is peak season for bald eagle viewing, and Eagle van tours give visitors a chance to view these majestic birds in their natural habitat. Likewise, you get to enjoy time in nature.

Dates: January 5, 6, 12, 13, 20 and 27.

Reservations: Eagle Van Tours are a popular event and reservation numbers are limited.  Reservations and full deposits are required for all trips. Call 270-924-2020 to reserve your tour.

February Badgett Playhouse Productions

Join the Badgett Playhouse cast for an evening devoted to love!  Bring your sweetheart and hear all your favorite Variety Show love songs.

Why we love it: February is the month of love, and we love live music shows!

Dates:  Pick from the February 8 or 9 Variety Love Songs or enjoy the special Dinner and Request Show on February 14.

March Ultra Run

The Land Between the Lakes Ultra Run returns to Grand Rivers, KY for its 16th year. This beautiful course starts along the shoreline of Kentucky Lake at Lighthouse Landing Resort and proceed 2 miles into Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area and on to the Canal Loop Trail.  There are four distances to choose from; the 50 mile, 60KM, Marathon, and 23KM.

Why we love it:  The course, Race management, the volunteers- we love it so much we wrote a whole blog post on it.

Date: Saturday, March 9

Reservations: Visit Durban Race Management for registration information.  Registration prices increase after January 30, so make sure you register early!

April Battle of Smithland Civil War Reenactment

This Civil War Reenactment includes Battle of Smithland, encampment, music, period sutlers, food vendors and more.  Visit Fort Smith on the hill above town, explore our lower town and the Civil War history there!

Camps are along the same street shown in the opening credits of “How The West Was Won”. The movie filmed quite a bit in the little town of Smithland, KY!

Why we love it: The organizers and reenactors are happy to share their wealth of knowledge and connect you with history.  You gain knowledge, it’s fun and it’s outdoors!

Dates: April 26-28, 2019

April Grand Rivers Quilt Show

Enjoy beautiful new and antique quilts on display at the Grand Rivers Quilt Show. Shop with vendors and enter the quilt raffle.

Why we love it: You can get up close and personal with the quilts in this small regional quilt show.  The Grand Rivers Chamber puts together a well-organized and beautiful show.

Dates: April 24 – 27, 2019.
