Patti’s 1880’s Settlement Festival of Lights has over 700,000 lights to get you in the Christmas spirit. Stroll through the Settlement in November and December and experience a walk in a winter wonderland of lights.
The lighting ceremonies are special nights of music and a countdown to the light reveal. This year, Patti’s has two light services to choose from. The first Christmas Light Ceremony takes place on the first Friday in November with a visit from Santa and music by Badgett Playhouse starting at dusk. The second lighting ceremony is Friday, November eighth, starting at dusk with a visit by Santa and music by Eternal Vision.
Starting November first, the lights are on each night at dusk. The Festival of Lights continues nightly through the second weekend of January. A walk through Patti’s 1880’s Settlement and Grand Rivers to see the lights is always free.
Located in the village of Grand Rivers, only 2 miles from interstate 24 KY Exit 31.
How it started
Patti’s is named after owner Chip Tuller’s mother. The business started as a hamburger and ice cream parlor in the 1970s. And that’s when the tradition of the Christmas light display began.
As with all things Patti’s, the festival of lights grew from heartfelt family traditions. When the Tullar children were little, Patti and Mr. Bill loaded the family into the station wagon at Christmas. They drove around their neighborhood to see the Christmas lights. So began the tradition of family bonding over Christmas light displays.
Owner Chip Tullar remembers these family times fondly. He created the Christmas light displays to share these same nostalgic moments with other families. Over the years, the display grew and expanded, but always at its core were the traditional lights of the season to bring joy to children at Christmas.
For over 40 years, the Patti’s Festival of Lights has delighted children. Many of the children that attended the early festivals years now bring their grandchildren to visit the lights of Patti’s. And the tradition continues- for generations to share, to bond, and to create treasured memories.
Patti’s Restaurant is currently closed from the fire. Patti’s is a unique place, and they are trying to continue that in the new building. They are recreating a place special to thousands of customers, and the process takes extra time. Patti’s hopes to open late November and are not yet able to take reservations. Please follow Patti’s Facebook page for further opening updates.
